We may get a little more shade on the eastside, but East Vail more than makes up for it with incredible hiking, refreshing soaks in Gore Creek, scenic bike rides into the village, and, of course, the occasional rumble of a semi's Jake brake as it descends Vail Pass—a sound that's simply part of mountain life.
